New Water, Sewer, and Bulk Water Rates Are Now In Effect

On October 10, 2023, the Richey Town Council approved the following increases to the Town's water, sewer, and bulk water rates. These increases represent the second half of an overall rate adjustment that was announced in mid-2022 to support the upcoming Phase 2 of the water system improvements project and to demonstrate that the Town can financially sustain these capital improvements and associated debt over the long term.

The Town Council held two public hearings (on September 12 and on October 10) for the purpose of receiving public input on the proposed increases. No written or verbal public comment against the increases was received before, during, or after either of these hearings.

The following rates will be reflected on the October 2023 bills, which are due on November 27 (the new bulk water rate was effective October 15). The Town Council's resolution to establish these rates is linked below.

1. The base rate of water service, which includes up to 1,000 gallons of usage per month, will increase by $6.50 per customer per month. The new base rate will be $52.86. The usage rate of $5.37 per 1,000 gallons used over the base amount will remain the same.
2. The base rate of sewer service will increase by $6.50 per customer per month. The new base rate will be $46.17.
3. The bulk water rate will increase by $0.01 per gallon. The new rate will be $0.02 per gallon.
